Managing information density in a commerce experience
HotelPlanner, a major travel platform with over $1B in annual bookings, needed a modernized user experience to stay competitive. I refreshed the brand with a brighter palette, modern typeface, and an "open door" icon. After analyzing leading travel sites, I focused on simplifying dense information, especially on mobile.
I emphasized large, swipeable hotel and room imagery, grouped inventory into room types with price tiers, and used previews with modal expansions for reviews, details, maps, and photos. I also introduced a hybrid map/list search view.
The redesign delivered incremental conversion lift and strong positive feedback from channel partners.
